Chair of the 2008 SPE National Conference: “Agents of Change: Arts and Advocacy”

Selected by the National Board of Directors to chair a national conference. Responsibilities included creating and developing the conference theme, selecting and securing keynote and invited speakers, developing and curating exhibitions and film festival in partnership with Denver area creative organizations and higher education institutions such as CU Boulder, Denver University, Metro State University and others. Innovated changes to an event called the “Curator Walk-Through” program designed as a portfolio sharing event by shifting the event from occurring at the end of the conference to the beginning of the conference and inviting local creative community leaders and curators to meet and network with photographic artists Developed, managed and led all staff and committees working on the efforts, had oversight of the budget, guided the creation and design of the conference program/catalogue, collaborated with national office staff, maintained constant communication with SPE’s Executive Committee members, secured educational and arts partners for the event, coordinated and planned conference venue and hotel support, curated an exhibition at the Emmanuel Gallery on the Auraria Campus, coordinated evening program of bus tours to participating Denver galleries and museums.
