As the only Associate Dean in the college at the time, the role and responsibilities of the position were wide ranging across all areas of the college. Areas of supervision included the Academic Advising Director, Facilities and Lab Manager, College Coordinator, Emmanuel Gallery Director, and Events Manager. Areas of oversight included convening and leading staff meetings, reviewing and approving the course scheduling, facilitating the work of the curriculum committee, confirming faculty to teach in the International College of Beijing, Freshman Seminar courses, Honors and Leaders program courses, facilitating the student advisory board, leading the development and delivery of the student graduation survey, and strategic resource planning for computer labs and facilities. Supporting faculty included oversight and coordination of faculty processes associated with appointment, reappointment, tenure, promotion, annual reviews, sabbaticals, and post tenure reviews, onboarding and welcoming faculty, and coordinating faculty award processes. Engagement and activities in collaboration with the Dean included donor cultivation, budget planning, development and growth of CAM’s Advisory Board, and partnership development. Led the development and growth of CAM’s ArtsBridge Program as the ArtsBridge Director.
Example Initiatives and Projects
- Initiated a successful three-year transformation of the curriculum in every discipline area establishing program outcomes, establishing student learning outcomes for all courses, intentional prerequisite mapping to ensure knowledge scaffolding, strategic prerequisite mapping and pathways for successful degree progression, planning course delivery timeframes to support student success, and proactive planning of faculty load and faculty assignments
- Initiated the development and delivery of an outreach and recruitment program called CAM Connects designed to increase visibility of CAM program offerings with CAM faculty serving as guest artists in High School classrooms in which they delivered hands-on workshop experiences
- Initiated the launch of a Diversity Council in CAM with the goal of advancing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
- Initiated CAM’s new faculty orientation program that occurred every semester.
- Engaged in advancement efforts with the Dean participating in visiting with potential donors, development of case statements for support, coordination of site visits with potential donors, and strategic planning of opportunities and requests
- Led a two-year effort to engage the entire faculty in creating and confirming new comprehensive college bylaws
- Built systems and processes to support the proactive growth, development, approval, and delivery of events (performances, exhibitions, presentations) in the college
- Over a period of many years, initiated efforts and set the foundation needed to eventually shift “ownership” of the Emmanuel Gallery from a tri-institutional endeavor with campus partners (Metro State University and Community College of Denver and the College of Arts and Media) as co-leads, to CAM as “owner”
- Led the development of CAM’s self-study report for the 2011 HLC Accreditation process and site visit
