In the College of Arts & Media, I led the development of program and course-level learning outcomes and curricular mapping.
Over the course of two years, I convened collaborative meetings with program area faculty, academic advisors and department chairs from across the entire college. With a focus on program and course learning outcomes we developed course sequencing and established prerequisites designed to ensure that students would register for courses in specific sequences.
Curricular mapping achieved the following:
• Created rigorous knowledge scaffolding through all courses in a degree program.
• Built clarity for faculty, staff, students and advisors on course outcomes, program outcomes, course sequencing and course requirements for graduation.
• Further aligned program areas to the college mission centered on, art making of consequence, integration of new technology, and connections to creative industries.
• Mapping enhanced the teaching and learning environment providing faculty with assurances of the level of student knowledge, skills and dispositions for courses they teach.
• Sparked high-level enrollment management and student recruitment activities.
• Built stronger cohorts of students that experienced an increase sense of community.
• Increase timely graduations
• Focused attention on foundation and capstone experiences as shared ordeals.
