Throughout my academic career I strive to create and sustain a human-centered culture with environments that foster belonging and well-being.
Example
I am committed to ensuring student success and creating a teaching and learning environment in which all students thrive, I have completed micro-credentials in Effective College Instruction offered by the Association of College and University Educators and the American Council on Education (ACUE). Course completions centered on inclusive pedagogy, increasing student success and student participation, promoting civil learning environments, ensuring equitable access to learning, active learning strategies, embracing diversity in the learning environment, and other important topics.
In addition, I am a champion of an asset-based approach to teaching and learning and further embrace that approach as essential to leading and collaborating with individuals and teams in the workplace.
Over the past three years in my administrative position I have continued to teach, applying the latest scholarship on teaching and learning to my teaching practice. This asset-based approach has improved the overall success and achievement of outcomes for all students in my classes.
My firsthand knowledge as an educator, in combination with my leadership roles, has afforded opportunities to amplify the benefits and importance of inclusive pedagogy amongst faculty colleagues and fellow campus leaders. In addition, this combination has positively influenced my ability to identify, propose, and advance strategies for recognizing and valuing faculty engagement in the teaching and learning endeavor.
