Since joining the College of Arts & Media in 1998, my work as an artist‑educator and academic leader has focused on creating inclusive, equitable, and dynamic learning environments in which students, faculty, and staff can thrive.
As a photography educator, I guide students in developing their creative voices as image‑makers, helping them explore their ideas with curiosity, intentionality, and expressive depth. My teaching is rooted in curiosity, partnership, and an asset‑based approach that values each student’s unique strengths, identities, and lived experiences; I strive to empower learners as co‑creators and collaborators who bring wonder and discovery into their creative practice.
Across my leadership roles—including Interim Co‑Dean of the College of Arts & Media, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs at CU Denver and CU South Denver, Senior Associate Dean, Arts Bridge Director, and Chair of the Visual Arts Department—I have worked to strengthen academic communities at the course, program, college, campus, and system levels.
Whether in the classroom or in leadership, my goal has always been to cultivate environments where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to vibrant, creative communities.
