The Office of Faculty Affairs provides a wide variety of assistance to faculty, associate deans, deans, chairs, faculty assembly, UDALI, and other constituents on matters related to faculty appointment, reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes, faculty awards, policies, and program outcomes and assessment. As the Interim AVC, I supervise the Director of the Office of Assessment, the Director of the Center for Faculty Development and Advancement, the Senior Faculty Affairs Coordinator, the Business Coordinator, and the Program Specialist and facilitate the work of the Core Curriculum Oversight Committee. Areas of oversight also include campus-level faculty awards and events that celebrate faculty successes and milestones achieved. In this position, I engage in a variety of activities such as oversight of the office budget, representing CU Denver on the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s General Education Council, developing and advancing policies through vetting processes, approving additional pay agreements and administrative appointments, reviewing faculty contracts and letters of offers, providing leadership and guidance in addressing issues that emerge in faculty review processes, collaborating with central services teams and faculty governance bodies to advance initiatives that support the well-being and success of faculty.

Example Initiatives and Projects
- Leading the Instructional Research and Clinical Teaching Track Taskforce charged with creating a plan to address workplace issues and enhance the success and well-being of lecturers, instructors and clinical teaching track faculty
- Co-Leading, together with Antonio Farias, Vice Chancellor for CU Denver’s Search Advocate Faculty Fellow Program
- Leading the development and delivery of a year-long cohort-based academic leadership program designed to enhance the leadership capacity of Chairs / Directors, Associate Deans and Deans and increase our ability to achieve the five bold goals of our campus priorities
- Together with the Provost and Faculty Assembly, developed and confirmed pandemic modification policies and practices throughout the pandemic in areas such as grading policies, tenure-clock extensions, campus-level guidelines for annual reviews of faculty
- Developed a vision for a new faculty success center, the Center for Faculty Development and Advancement (CFDA), when the Center for Faculty Development became the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, hired the CFDA Director, aligned staffing, organized the budget, and worked with Director to grow new program offerings
- Together with a team of school/college representatives, OIRE and IT leaders implemented the utilization of Interfolio digital tools – Faculty Activity Reporting and RTP Workflow.
- Co-Led the CU Denver 2030 Strategic Plan “People at the Center” Vision Team and submitted report with recommendations and considerations
- Member of all steering committees formed to guide the safety and well-being of our campus community, continuation of operations, and creative advancement of the teaching and learning endeavor in light of COVID-19 worldwide pandemic
- Summer 2021 Co-Led the Summer 2021 CU Denver Lynx Together Safe Return team focused on supporting Faculty return to campus with recommendations and projects designed ensure faculty were supported in light of pandemic disruptions
- Summer 2020 Co-led the Teaching and Learning Implementation Team which enacted recommendations emerging from the Teaching and Learning Working Group
- Spring 2020 Co-led the Teaching and Learning Working Group that developed strategies, initiatives and solutions needed to address the continuation of the educational endeavor, and support student and faculty success, in light of the pandemic
